Meen Been Elastomers Ltd. (M/s. Meen Been), Mr. Alpesh G. Dand, Ms. Manisha Mardia, Mr. Bharat C. Jain, Mr. Rajneesh Jain, Mr. Manish Mathur, the COO of Triveni Management Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (Triveni - a stock broker and member of BSE), and Mr. Ajay Roongta were linked/connected with each other through Mr. Sunil Mehta and Mr. Ajay Roongta. All these entities are hereinafter referred to as the "Mehta Group entities". (d). During the investigation period, the Mehta Group entities had, amongst themselves, entered into substantial trades in the scrip of ASCL that were in the nature of synchronized, structured and circular trades and which resulted in creation of artificial volume and affected the price of the scrip of ASCL. They indulged in non-delivery based transactions in the scrip and were also found to be reversing their trades, intra-day, in a peculiar set pattern. The Mehta Group entities entered into synchronized trades (less than one minute difference between buy and sell orders) in the scrip amongst themselves and also in structured trades (not only time of buy and sell order was within one minute but the order price and order quantity were also matching). It was observed that Mr. Sunil Mehta, Mr. Suresh Hanswal, Mr. Pradesh Nimawat, Mr. Ajay Roongta and Triveni were financing the trades of the various Mehta Group entities. It was observed that during August 2008 to January 2009, Mr. Sunil Mehta had received more than `1 crore in cash in his various bank accounts, of which `45,68,600/- was received during the investigation period. The funds received by the Mehta Group entities were transferred inter se amongst themselves or to various stock brokers, through whom the respective entities were dealing in the scrip of ASCL, to meet the pay-in obligations of the respective entity for its trades and this trend continued even after the investigation period.
