The shares of AL were listed at Rs.175/- per share and Rs.170/- per share on September 25, 2006 at National Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “NSE”) and Bombay Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “BSE”) respectively. The price of the scrip started rising from October 3, 2006 onwards and touched a high of Rs.1,450/- per share on January 18, 2007 in BSE and Rs.1,446/- per share on January 17, 2007 in NSE.

It was alleged that Manish Marwah (hereinafter referred to as “Noticee”) had violated the regulation 3 (a) and 4 (2) (e) of SEBI (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices relating to Securities Market) Regulation, 2003 (hereinafter referred to as ‘PFUTP’) and consequently, liable for monetary penalty under section 15 HA of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (hereinafter referred to as ‘SEBI Act’).
