The price rise was also fueled due to fact that such announcements were made at times when there was a general euphoria in the stock markets with regard to software companies.

These shares could not have been purchased from the market as in the period prior to April 1998 the shares of BITL were hardly ever traded. Therefore, it could be reasonably inferred that the shares came from the management of the company. They were summoned to appear in person and/or provide information as regard their acquisition of the shares of BITL.
