Accordingly, SEBI carried out an investigation in the matter of circulation of UPSI through WhatsApp messages with respect to Bata Ltd., to ascertain any possible violation of the provisions of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 (hereinafter referred to as “SEBI Act”) and SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015 (hereinafter referred to as “ SEBI (PIT) Regulations”) during the period during the period of January 1, 2016 to February 10, 2016 (hereinafter referred to as “Investigation Period”).
