It has been alleged in the said reference that units engaged in the manufacture of iron and steel products have shown/ booked huge profits from “Shares Trading” in their books of accounts for avoiding the running losses from manufacturing activities. Such losses in the manufacturing unit appear to have been shown for the purpose of some adjustments in balance sheet and balancing such losses, they have accounted for entries of profit from shares trading. It was further alleged that actual transactions do not appear to have been done but few share brokers including the noticee based at Delhi have issued contract notes as well as difference bill vouchers in favor of such manufacturers.
